Shankle
Robert Shankle was elected to the City Council as
Councilmember of Ward 2 on May 9, 2009.
Mr. Shankle was born in Newton, Texas on March 27,
1967 and grew up in Lufkin. He attended Lufkin High School and
graduated in the class of 1985.
He is a Desert Storm Disabled Veteran. He
served in the United States Army, National Guard and U. S. Army
Reserves for a combined total of 14 years. He is a member of DAV
Chapter 84 and American Legion Post 73. He is the cofounder of
the Neighborhood Leadership Council of North Lufkin where he
currently serves as President.
Mr. Shankle is active in his community. His volunteer
services include serving on the Black Historical Commission of
Angelina County, the Lufkin Convention and Tourism Bureau board, and
the Angelina County Census 2010 Committee. He also serves as a mentor for the local
Drug Court.
He is a very active member of the Church by Christ Jesus
where he serves in several positions.
Mr. Shankle is a dedicated family man. He is married
to Latonya Forney Shankle and the proud
father of six children: Shy’Teria, D’Eseron, Shanequa,
Shandral, Kayla, and Marquee’. He has four grandchildren: Chassydie,
Charydie, Camile, and Jayla. |
