City of Lufkin Unclaimed Property
Claim Instructions
The City of Lufkin
currently holds abandoned and unclaimed property, in the form of
utility deposits or other refunds that have been abandoned by the
owner for two or more years. The City of Lufkin has provided lists
of unclaimed property – “Commercial Accounts” and “Individual
Accounts” – for your convenience in locating property that may be
yours.
If you believe you may
have abandoned or unclaimed property held by the City of Lufkin,
please search the “Commercial Accounts” list or the “Individual
Accounts” list. If a search results in any matches, please complete
the “Unclaimed Property Claim Form” and mail it, with supporting
documentation to the City of Lufkin, Attn: Finance Dept./Unclaimed
Property, P. O. Drawer 190, Lufkin, Texas 75902-0190. Supporting
documentation is the following:
Copy of the
claimant’s photo identification (e.g. driver’s license or state ID
card)
Proof of Taxpayer Identification Number (photocopy of one of the
following: social security card, military ID card, tax record, or
pay stub)
Proof associating
you with the unclaimed property as published (photocopy of one of
the following: utility bill, driver’s license, mortgage payment
coupon, cancelled check, credit report, or pay stub reflecting the
address).
These items may be
photocopied and submitted by mail, fax to 936 633-7501, or in
person. All pictures and text must be clear and legible. Checks
will not be reissued without proof of identification. Please note
that it may take up to two weeks to process after receiving your
claim form. Checks will not be distributed
on the day the form is received.
Upon receipt of your
completed and signed claim form, we will review it carefully; if we
are able to determine ownership from the information provided, we
will process your claim. If the supporting documentation is
insufficient, we may contact you for further information. There is
no charge for the claim process. For additional information, please
