The Fleet Maintenance Department is responsible for keeping the City vehicles in good, safe working condition as well as saving the tax payers money.  The department maintains approximately 400 pieces of rolling stock.  This includes cars, trucks, large and small equipment.

The department's goal is to serve the citizens of Lufkin by meeting all vehicle and equipment needs for all of the City departments by providing highest quality vehicle and customer service possible.

The Department follows the following principles:

• Operate as a business and provide high quality service at the lowest rate possible.
  

• Understand the customer's needs and meet each one responsibly and courteously.
  

• Focus on conserving the value of the vehicles and equipment and provide preventive maintenance as an added service, lessening downtime in the future.

The department consists of one Director of Fleet Services, four mechanics and an administrative assistant.  The department's mechanics have over 50 years of combined experience in the auto repair field, including one with an ASE Master Mechanic Certification.
