Larry C. Brazil is the Chief of the Lufkin Police Department.
Chief Brazil has been employed by the Lufkin Police Department for
35 years. He began his law enforcement career in 1968 after being
employed as a patrol officer. He was promoted through the ranks of
sergeant and lieutenant, to the rank of Assistant Chief of Police in
1990. On February 1st, 2001, Brazil was promoted to Chief of Police
of the Lufkin Police Department. His training encompasses all areas
of law enforcement with a special emphasis on traffic management.
Chief Brazil is a graduate of the National Traffic Management
Institute at Central Missouri State University. Chief Brazil is a
member of the International Association of Chief’s of Police and the
past president of the East Texas Association of Chief’s of Police.
Chief Brazil has been a resident of Angelina County for 57 years. He
and his wife are the parents of five children, four sons and one
daughter. Three of his sons are Texas State Trooper Sergeants,
stationed in Angelina County, Jasper County, and Nacogdoches County.
The fourth son is finishing a nine-year enlistment in the United
States Navy and is stationed at Norfolk, Virginia. His daughter is
married and raising a family in Angelina County.
