August 27, 2015 - The Ellen Trout Zoo is pleased to announce the birth of an endangered Jaguar.
The Lufkin Police Department is now accepting applications for the upcoming Citizen’s Police Academy.
The academy will begin on September 15 at 6 p.m and will be held each Tuesday night from 6-9 p.m. for 12 weeks. The Lufkin Police Department is sponsoring this academy to local citizens free of charge.

Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase
The City of Lufkin will hold two public hearings on a proposal to increase total tax revenues from properties on the tax roll in the preceding tax year by 1.22 percent
These hearings will take place Tuesday, September 1st at 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, September 8th at 2:00, in the Lufkin City Hall
City Council Chambers.

City Burning Ban in Effect.
August 18, 2015 - City of Lufkin City Council has extended the burning ban within the city for an additional
60 days or until lifted by the City Council.

The City will host its annual recycling day for tires and electronics,
Saturday, Sept. 12 from 9-1.
Tire and Electronic Recycling will take place at the Solid Waste/Recycle facility located at 500 South Park off College Drive. People can drop off TV’s and any other electronics for free. People can also bring up to six(6) tires for free. CLICK FOR MORE DETAILS...
