Email Councilmember Travis
Victor L. Travis was born in Galveston Texas and moved to Lufkin
shortly after birth. Mr. Travis spent his early years in Lufkin
attending Brandon and Garrett Elementary Schools. At the age of 9
Mr. Travis started traveling as a military dependent visiting many
states and countries. He attended and graduated high school from
International School Bangkok in Bangkok Thailand. Following
Graduation Mr. Travis returned to Lufkin Texas where he lived and
worked until being drafted into the United States Army.
After a twenty year career in the military Mr. Travis retired from
the US Army and returned to Lufkin. He attended Steven F. Austin
State University where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
Mr. Travis teaching career began teaching science and social studies
at Brandon Elementary school for 9 years. He then moved on to Lufkin
Middle School where he was a Science teacher for 11 years. After
twenty years of teaching He retired from Lufkin Independent School
District.
He is married to Mrs. Andrea Eoff Travis, who teaches for LISD.
Mr. Travis has five children. Diana M. Smith, Victor L. Travis Jr.,
Krystal L. Travis, Quisha T Travis and Shandra Travis Moore.
Mr. Travis is very active in his community giving of his time and
services to people in need, joining with organizations to make
Lufkin a better place for all to live. He is now a member of the
Neighborhood Leadership Council of North Lufkin. An organization
dedicated to the revitalization of North Lufkin and raising the
standard of living for all Lufkin communities
Mr. and Mrs. Travis are both friends of the zoo.
