Part of South Angelina Street from Denman Avenue to Pershing Avenue (between Boys & Girls Club and the former Lufkin Industries site) will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 20-22 due to preparation for the Couth Angelina Street Reconstruction Project that will likely continue through the end of the school year.

Traffic will be rerouted to Pershing Avenue and South Raguet Street during closure. Pineywoods Community Academy will be unaffected by the temporary closure as school is out that week for the Thanksgiving holiday.

As construction continues the following week, PCA student drop off and pick up will be rerouted with parents approaching from the Kurth Memorial Library side of the campus on South Raguet Street. Parents will then exit the drop-off and pick-up lines through the high school parking lot onto South First Street.  

A drop-off/pick-up zone is also available behind the high school and is accessible from South First Street.  

The project has a tentative completion date of late spring to early summer 2024.
