blankets-for-cats_2023-12-05

It’s that time of year when Kurth Memorial Animal Services needs clean, small to medium-sized blankets (e.g., a  throw you would use on your couch) and clean newspapers for the shelter animals. You may not be aware that last year, the City took in 3700 animals—equivalent to a city of 200,000 residents! The shelter is overflowing with dogs and cats that need homes.

The shelter is located at 1901 Hill St., Lufkin, Tx. 75904, and they are open for donations Tuesday-Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. Or, if you prefer, you can drop them off at City Hall-Administration, and we will take them to the shelter.

Please bring the blankets and newspapers to Administration in City Hall before January 15, 2024, and we will get them to the animals waiting for adoption.

And, keep in mind, there are many animals still looking for their “fur-ever” home at the shelter now. The animals available for adoption are posted at the City of Lufkin website, Department, Animal Services-Dog and Cat adoptions at www.cityoflufkin.com.  There are also other ways you can help, such as fostering an animal until it is adopted and volunteering at the shelter. If interested, please contact our Animal Services Manager, Morgan Williams at 936-630-0516.

Thanks in advance for your help.
